AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT GRANT FOR BLOCK PRINTING PROJECT

Patrick Suckling, The Australian High Commissioner in Delhi has granted funding to our partners at Vatsalya for the training of 200 women from rural villages outside Jaipur in the traditional art of Block Printing. This grant supplements the previous Grant we were awarded by EXIM Bank India which has provided the much needed funding to initiate the project.

Many of the women involved in the project have come from difficult circumstances earning their income as commercial sex workers. This training will provide the women with skills that will lead to sustainable work opportunities giving them hope, empowerment and independence.

Artisans of Fashion is working in collaboration with the Anoothi women on the development of contemporary designs for block print collections for the western market.
